STADT:up aims to design consistent, scalable solutions for future urban mobility in which vehicles can navigate safely through complex, inner-city traffic situations. It is a collaborative project with 22 partners from industry and research. The project, with a total budget of € 62,8 million, started in January 2023, is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) and the European Union and will run until December 2025.
Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence in Autonomous Vehicles
Our project team at Ergosign designs and evaluates interaction concepts for the comprehensible and efficient explanation of automation behavior to increase the acceptance, trust, situational awareness, and sense of security of vehicle occupants in complex inner-city traffic situations.
Thereby, we focus on everyday inner-city traffic situations, that are defined by a high complexity, involvement of vulnerable road users (VRU), a variety of possible situational behaviours, and a high occurrence frequency.
The derived HMI concepts are demonstrated in simulator and real-world vehicle studies. Ergosign is also developing an Engineering UI that visualizes sensor and vehicle information in real-time to provide system engineers with valuable information and functions in the development process.
